Patients with missing teeth often consider getting dentures to replace them.

What are dentures?

Dentures are a set of removable prosthetic teeth usually held in place with an adhesive. Dentures come as either a full or partial set and we’ll recommend which is best for you according to whether you are missing all or just a few of your teeth.

Why might I need dentures?

We almost always recommend replacing missing teeth wherever possible. This is because missing teeth can lead to further problems in the future, with the remaining teeth moving to fill the gap, food and debris getting lodged there, and the increased likelihood of bone loss in the jaw.

Missing teeth can also severely damage a patient’s self-confidence. Dentures can help with all these problems and can help bring confidence back to your smile while also addressing any speech or eating issues.

What are the steps involved in getting dentures?

At an initial consultation, we will examine your mouth and we will be able to discuss your options with you. If dentures are the most suitable solution, then we will take an impression of your mouth. This impression will then be sent off to a dental laboratory, where it will be used to make your dentures.

At a later appointment, you’ll have your dentures fitted here at Cosmetic & Family Dentistry where we’ll also talk through with you how best to take care of your new dentures.
