Dry socket is a common complication of teeth extraction that occurs when the healing blood clot doesn’t form or is dislodged.
- Symptoms of dry socket include a bad taste or foul smell, severe pain and a missing clot at the extraction site.
- Dry socket can be treated with pain medication and rinsing the socket with saltwater to prevent infection.
- If you experience severe pain several days after an extraction, see your dentist.
