Tooth Loss and Heart Disease

26th / April / 2018

Losing teeth is never pleasant but it could also have serious implications for the heart. A new study has concluded that losing teeth in middle age can also lead to a series of heart problems.

Results showed that those who lost the most teeth were more at risk of suffering from:

  • Strokes
  • Cardiovascular diseases
  • Peripheral arterial diseases

Middle-aged participants in the study, who had lost two or more teeth, had a “23% higher risk of developing coronary heart disease”. Good oral care and regular check-ups at the dentist can avoid tooth loss and resultant coronary problems and you can find out more at https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/321302.php.
