A recent study found that nine different kinds of toothpaste were unable to prevent dental erosion and a loss of enamel over time. Although fluoride is indeed present, the fact of the matter is that other steps need to be employed in order to protect your teeth.

Three recommendations include:

  • Modify your diet so that it includes healthier foods.
  • Always follow the recommendations set forth by your dentist.
  • Avoid foods and drinks with high acid content, including juices.
  • Cut back on sugary foods.

“An analysis of nine kinds of toothpaste found that none of them protects enamel or prevents erosive wear.”
